Illustration Friday - Tranquil

This is a pastel pencil painting of my old bulldog. You can't get the 'full flavour' of him without the snoring and the smell. You had to own him to love him!

You can't get much more tranquil than a sleeping dog on a warm day!

We had an English Bulldog whwn I was a child. He was my best friend. He smelled, drooled, and snorted up a storm...but he had eternal patience when it came to me. More often than not, I would fall asleep on top of him every afternoon, and my Mom tells me Mike (the bulldog) would not move until I woke up. This painting brought back good memories...

Thank You,
Mark Stinson

Rhank you everybody for your nice comments.

Mark, there's really nothing else like a bulldog is there? This one was my second, (we had the first when we were kids, too) and I had him until he was over twelve years old. I would love to have another, but 'the boss' says no, because he feels it is unfair to breed a dog with the number of health problems they often have.

I was just watching the Eukanuba dog show... indeed your bulldog looks calm rather than hyped-up! I'm glad I DON'T have sound and smell on my computer!
I look forward to seeing more art... your portraits are wonderful.

I love dogs and it's nice that you illustrated one of yours. I could almost see shorty breathing and licking my face ;o)
